At Hope we believe that "practicing righteous before men to be noticed by them" is not true worship. Instead we believe that "when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving will be in secret" is the proper way to worship God in giving. This is why we do not pass an offering plate during our worship services on Sunday mornings. (Matt. 6:1, 3&4)
We strive to be "cheerful givers" "not under compulsion" (2 Cor. 9:7) as we worship through giving because we understand that God has given us everything that we have. When we give as an act of worship we are simply returning to God the gifts he has bestowed upon us. At Hope we also believe that giving comes in many forms. Giving of time and talent as well as treasure are "spiritual acts of worship." (Romans 12:1)
